Hi, Im Chevonne!
I am a wellness coach who practices using hands on therapy to help unlock the body and past habits and thoughts that have built up as tension in the body.
Somatic healing refers to emotions that are trapped in the body presenting as pain. Usually these feelings are fear based. They can be of old events memories and thought patterns.
I dislike the word trauma because it refers to an accident or event, but I believe often life spirals from a series of patterns, and the event itself is the culmination or the shift.
Where feel with our hearts and make logic of these feelings with our mind. Sometimes, the logic is based on the narrative we were taught as very small children and still developing. Often these thoughts are not our own, but pre determined by our parents, their parents and the teachers we meet along the way.
I feel like it is helpful to go back to what our heart knows best.
The use of hands on therapy is an easy way to connect straight to the mind via the body and focus on our heart led thoughts. I do some work around the chest and back surrounding the heart, as it forms a connection for you back to yourself.
Massage to the face is particularly helpful because it touches on all the senses. How we see, hear, smell, taste and smell and touch. In disregulated people with anxiety, often a therapist will use a technique to bring a person back to the present, using awareness of the senses with the mind, What can you see, smell etc. With touch, we build an even deeper connection.
In embryology, we are born as a cell that then becomes a little bean shape. At either end, two holes form. One is the anus/vagina (women) and the other is the beginning of the holes for the eyes, nostrils, ears, mouth. They start as one hole and divide. In between these holes inside the bean like shape, the spine starts to form. (The Spark In the Machine - ). This is the importance of working with the face for me, and then the spine and connection to the hips and pelvis.
I work with the body, but importantly, the thoughts that come out with clients before and after treatment are equally important. To evacuate the thoughts, and begin a path to healing.
I am grateful to be able to share the years of study and life experience I have gained with anyone that feels stuck. And I honour the courage it takes to step forward and ask for some help.xx
